VINS HODGSON, LES AUSSIGOUINS 2021

100% Chenin from a beautiful parcel located near Leroys’ fabled Les Noels De Montbenault. Pressed direct in whole bunches and aged in barrel. The 2021 is already showing beautifully with dense concentrated fruit, bright acidity and plenty of minerals. It’s young though and is very much worth cellaring if you can manage to hold off. For us it’s one of the classics of the region. 

Kenji: 'Aussigouins is schiste and sandstone. It’s a dense, hard soil, very austere. The drainage is not as good as in “Faia.” So you have moments of lots of humidity, and other moments in the summer when it’s super dry. It’s a complicated vineyard from that point of view. It also gives the wine huge amplitude. I think it has the potential to become a very powerful, driven kind of wine.'
