RAISIN SAUVAGE, 2024 SELECTION

Emilien Revers is one of the few winemakers in Alsace who does not come from an Alsace family estate. Doing things the hard way in a region dominated by tradition, allowing a freedom and experimentation that is quite refreshing. Formerly a sommelier, after falling in love with the natural wines of the region he went to winemaking school, (classmate of Lambert Spielmann) and after this started his own project making wine, but also beer and mead. He has taken on just under 2 hectares of his own vines now, but started out with buying fruit from winemaking friends. Working from a small cellar on an organic market garden site owned by a friend, Emilien is quietly crafting some of the most precise, unique wines in a very exciting region. 

2024 is the last chapter of Emilien's journey in the south of Alsace as he takes on a surface further north and a different cellar. It's a great vintage to sign off on!

Time Bomb

Auxerrois work in direct press, Pinot Gris work in a carbonic way for 3 days and then 4 days of skin contact. Handles the Gris perfectly making a bright rose full of tart fruit.

Social Traitre

Saint Hippolyte, Rodern (clay and granite) and Rouffach (clay and limestone)
50% Sylvaner 25% Pinot Blanc 25% Pinot Auxerrois, all work in direct press
infusion of destemmed pinot noir for 7 days, to finish the fermentation. Pours an orangey pink, it's bright, fresh and aromatic.

Nixberg

33% Riesling 33% Pinot Gris 33% Gewurztraminer from Kaysersberg (Grand cru Schlossberg - Granite). Pressed direct and aged in barrel, just 440 bottles made, this is textured mineral and keeps the freshness of the vintage in brilliant balance.

Drink Loud, Drink Proud

100% Gewurztraminer. He infuses a third of the grapes whole bunch in the juice of the rest for seven days. In the cooler vintage the wine is brisk with bright aromatics and a pleasing tension.

Mafia Vin Free 

100% Riesling in direct press. In a cooler vintage this is mineral, snappy and fresh, the granite soils bring minerality and texture. Enlivening.
