An exciting new project in Anjou, two brothers who discovered the world of wine through their Alsatian uncle and aunt in the mid-2010s (Hélène and Jean-François Ginglinger). After working several harvest seasons and spending time in the vineyards, they decided to leave our respective careers to create their own estate. After completing a one-year degree in viticulture and oenology (BTSA) and working with several winemakers in Anjou (Thomas with Adrien de Mello and Jean-Noël Bellard; Pierre with Jacques Février and Martial Angeli) they acquired 4.5 hectares of vines in 2024.
All the parcels are located in the same area, on shallow silty soils (green schist on the upper slopes, purple schist at the bottom, with bands of phtanite scattered across the different plots). Each cuvée—except for Grolleau Noir and Cabernet Franc—takes its name from the parcel where the grapes are grown:
Le Veau is a 50-year-old Chenin vineyard covering 1.4 hectares; 50% vinified in barrel and 50% in fiberglass tanks, then blended before bottling. In a cooler vintage this is an extremely precise wine full of orchard fruit, texture and salinity. An impressive debut!
