LA LUNOTTE, BRIN DE PAILLE 2018

Christophe Foucher is simply one of the great unsung natural winemakers of France.

This is a real rarity, late harvest, (slightly) sweet oxidative Sauvignon. It has been a real pleasure to watch this wine evolve in barrel over our last few visits to see Christophe. 

He picked the late harvest grapes and pressed them into two barrels, one topping up the other barrel as the wine evaporated with time, thus one wine very oxidative, blending with this strong sweet wine in the other barrel. The result is this incredibly golden wine brimming with dried fruit and a creamy texture. Wonderful with cheese, a bottle holds open for weeks, though it doesn't often last that long.
