FRANÇOIS SAINT-LÔ, LE BOIS GUYON 2018

A very special wine from François Saint-Lô.

2018 was a very warm vintage and he aged his old vine cabernet for a full 7 years , before deciding to blend with his 2020 Pineau d'Aunis, which had had 5 years in barrel. The vines actually sit next to each other and he felt to balance the heat of 2018, he needed the freshness of a lighter varietal. It works beautifully, a wine of power, length and crucually balance, with black and red fruit, wild herbs and very silky tannins. Though it is already very enjoyable this will age quite beautifully, for those who can't wait, decanting will allow the wine to fully express its enormous potential.
