In this almost forgotten part of Burgundy, en route to the Jura, Benoît Kilian farms the historic vineyard of Domaine La Cotelette. Working with 2.5 hectares, it’s an estate that dates back to 1919 when previous owner Guy Bussiere’s grandfather first planted vines here. Historically there were vines everywhere but now Benoit is very isolated, producing energetic, esoteric and above all delicious wines from beautiful vineyards.

As a former natural wine distributor he has a deep knowledge of the wines and this is reflected in his approach, free and open wines that speak of the soils they come from and a burgundy that used to be.

Declassified Puligny Montrachet, from a parcel Benoit's friend owns and asked him to farm. This shows a wonderfully different expression of this hallowed terroir and in the 2024 vintage is fresher and floral, but still with the depth you would expect. He makes hardly any.
