NICOLAS PAVIE, INCIPIT, THEIZE, BEAUJOLAIS, DESPITE THE STORM 2019

Nicolas Pavie makes incredibly balanced pure and long wines from old vines in an unfashionable part of southern Beaujolais. His style is very different from the cru's up north favouring gently infusions of whole berries rather than the traditional semi-carbonic style of the region. 

Despite the Storm, partly named this because of the hail that hit this region in 2019, is a wonderfully intense and pure Gamay, incredibly balanced.  After the usual maceration of 3-3 and a half weeks, the juice went into barrel for ten months before bottling with no additions.
